Just before Thanksgiving, Joe's little cousin, Ben was in an accident and passed away. His family got so many flowers, plants, figurines, etc. They asked many of us to take something home with us. I choose a planter that has 6 plants in it. I have been taking care of it probably better than any other plant I've ever had. I turn it just a little bit each night so a different part of it gets filtered light each day and I keep it watered. Soon I will need to replant one of the plants because everything is growing so big and beautiful. Every time I look at the planter I am reminded of Ben and the beautiful light he brought to the world. Here are a couple of pictures I took of it tonight:

Just a couple of random photos tonight.
This is the necklace I wore today - I love just looking at it. It's the little things you know!
And here is one of my 4 legged babies surrounded by several of his toys. He really IS a big baby!

Days 6&7/365
Today and yesterday did not turn out to be very good picture-taking days for me, but I'll share what I managed to snap while running errands in between work and everything else.
I took that one yesterday while sitting in the Old National parking lot off of Virginia and Royal.
And I took this one while driving this evening from my allergist to pick up Olivia from school/daycare.

Lots of editing to get done tonight. This is my little editing buddy. He is always close when I'm at my computer and has taken recently to sitting on the table beside me.

Day 4/365
I'm finding it hard on some days to pick only one photo. I am sure there will be many days ahead that I cannot come up with even one so for now I am just going to post as many as I feel like.
I was trying my hand at making heart-shaped bokeh, but it didn't turn out great. This was the best picture so far:
I have been trying to clean and go thru old stuff and purge things we don't really need. I was going thru old pictures tonight and came across this one. So I took a picture of it. It's a picture I took of a picture that was in an album that someone had at a family reunion a couple of years ago. So it's a picture of a picture of a picture of my grandparents and their boys (the one on bottom right is my dad). I find such interest in this photo not just because of the people in it, but because at first glance I always think it's me in the picture. Never before had I found a resemblance between me and my grandmother.
And finally - my boy Sammy. He rarely lets me take pictures of him, but I'm glad he let me get this shot tonight. Olivia left her pillow pet in the living room and he was snuggling with it. How cute is he?!

Today Olivia and I had a mother/daughter day! I had made and given her a small sewing kit for Christmas and told her I was going to teach her how to hand-sew. For a few days she kept telling me she didn't want to learn how, but it turns out she was just afraid of the needle. Once we got past that we were good to go! We spent no less than 5 hours today learning how to sew and making 3 new outfits for her barbie dolls:
She did great threading the needle and she loved being able to make stuff for her dolls to wear!
After that we made cookies. We started with a flourless recipe for Peanut butter chocolate chip oatmeal cookies that I found online. The first batch we followed the recipe fairly closely. The second batch we did our own thing - it was Olivia's idea to drizzle them with chocolate and candies and such. They turned out SO GOOD!
